Hello Daddy
after laid down for years with sickness
And I guess, after too tired, waited all of your beloved children return home
I will always regret that I was wasted my time,
without gave any good care of you
How I wish to be dared enough to heard your wishes,
How I wish had opportunity to stayed and spent a little time together
How I wish could shared all my blesses and happiness with you
How I wish could provided the best medical ever for you
How I wish you went away not that soon
How I wish could saw you now, and for many years more
How I wish could showed how much I love you
I guess, my best time with you faded slowly when I walked out of home,
pursue my senior high study, and hardly returned back to our hometown
But I will always remember and miss my many good times with you
It had gone …,
Never could I might made a cup of coffee or cooked a no MSG meals for you
Never could I bought your favorite tobacco“storm king”,
(though Mom would scream out loud for “don't”)
Never would we could jointly listen your favorite “Keroncong” music,
Never would we watched and laughed at “Sister Act” on 14” black and white television
Never could we enjoyed fresh-boiled cassava and hot tea
Never could I gave massages whenever you felt stretched
Never could I saw you checked all windows and doors,
made sure all were lock and we kept safely, every single nights.
Never would you woke up, made sure the door locked back and everything just fine,
whenever your youngest boy came in very late of the nights through his adult years
How I missed to enjoyed a fresh windy air and a dramatic cloud
as we sat and waited for you and mom planted paddy
How I missed fall asleep in your arms while you driven an old motor-cycles
How I missed my times, slowly bicycling, followed your paths went home
I will always remember those cool nights,
when we rowed our small jukung, fight a heavy stream,
return home with no fish after hours ma-lunta along Barito river bank
How I wish could put you on the speedboat and scream
'Dad, no need to row now. We won over the stream !!”
How I wish could always served you with pork, prawn or patin fish, your favorite meals,
and spoke “Dad, no need to hunting or fishing now, I would provided any meals you wish !”
I guess, I never showed how much I loved you, daddy !!
I was late, I always came late for you
I was late to came after graduation, late to came and say 'Hi”
Late to saw your smile, late to heard the last words of your wisdom
I will always miss you Daddy, my very strong man, kind, calm , wise, smart,
Humble, but always proud with of us
Hope you are happy in heaven, dad
Keep watching us

Dancing Queen
Last night, after tried a difficult listening test and turned in very low score (less then 20 correct answers), we had crazy dance in dormitory. Ellen was the dancing queen, mysef n Mbak Herlina as a background dancers, Ilsa as DJ operator, and Evi as camera-women. It was very fun. We dance till swept; full with scream and laugh.
Lucky from Jason Mraz wil bring us lucky in IELTS test. "Lucky I am in love with my best friends ... ! lalalalala ..... !!! It was very good reggae songs that brought us up to the moon. I think it was excellent exercise to make us very much in the mood for IELTS.
Yes, tomorrow is the day. All the best to everyone !!

My IELTS Test
Clearly, this is very important test. Short term effect; extend my stay in Jakarta or not? Long term: make Holland closer or far away?? Yeahhh..., it makes sense that many friends get nervous.
Grammar is my most weakness, both in writing and speaking. Honestly, I almost give up to study. Somehow, I have decide to devoted this 2-3 days to review, and see how it comes. Yes, I am a bit not confident with this next test.
However, I think we have learn so much over those 4 months. Absolutely, it has increased our English, no matter we aware or not, but it does !! At least, we learn many new vocabularies, read many advance materials, expose to English communication on daily teaching, and has practiced write many academics papers. We should be ready more than we imagine !?
I think, finally, no need to worry. It just another English test. Yes, it is important, but its not the end of the world if I failed. I will do my parts, learn harder and keep focus. And the rest, I will leave it with God.
I believe He always grants us much more than we could imagine or believe. It is absolutely his time to show His power unto his proud and stubborn child.
I am surrender, and leave it on His grace !!!
Railway in Cental Kalimantan !?
It is about railway development which will be begin next May (tender) in Central Kalimantan. This 185 Km track will open bigger access to jungle, and imagine for 700 Km more till 2012. I think this gonna be bring no much good for local people and environment, but latent problems for the long term.
I am not agree with governor plant to improve development through open isolation with this way. Dayak people has no skill and capacity and willingness to produce hardly anything. I think our main focus should be to increase productivity, before this mega expensive railway project. There should be other cheaper cost to open our isolation, but not railway as proved by other research.
Help me to understand that we are not going to be under new colonialism of Japan for the next 30 years. I do hope that I just over react and paranoid, but this all will bring good think for us. ( I can't believe it !!?).
Why don't we learn from previous Ex-Mega Rice Project that cleared over 1 M hectares land in CK and leave big disaster for environment.
God, bless my country n region.

Beauty of Communication
Two people, sit side by side, but communicate via internet messenger; like Evi, Wawan and Herdy today, hehehehe. Like what I did sometime too. I guess it should be fun, as we could exchange comments on something or someone privately, without disturbing others who needs silent situation.
But, is it still funny when two people side by side no talking to other, but rather prefer to communicate with a far away people out in the moon than the "real". It is kind of sad, though. Especially, as it is became quite a trend now.
When I was a bit addictive with facebooks (get over a little now), I notice has spent quite considerable times communicate with friends that I hardly ever met and talked for nothing. As a consequent, less time on chat with real people around me. In fact, when I was on crazy with my dreamlife, I found that friends who came around to said " hi" was disturbed my times and concentration. Hmmmm .... it is tragic, isn't it?
The Last Month
This would be my last months in Jakarta ?? I guess, I hope.
No extend or so, but return back home.
Return to my warm hometown and busy working life.
Yet, I know that I will miss my easy and lazy life, here in Jakarta.
Hot water bath, full laundry, late wake up, movies times.
Just study and need no worry with jobs.
Will I be going to dreamland this year?
Yes, hope to know for sure by May.
Welcome back, May !!
This gonna be an important month for the next path.
Hope, its gonna be a very good news for everybody.

Pilgrim
Pilgrim in Easter 2009
Reveal in a sacrifice motion
Touched and challenged, knocked my very own heart
Felt like a runaway girl shares Judas's kiss to the saviour
Crying for a light, yet love darkness
Looking for direction, but standing still, unmove.
Calling for help, but denied His's helping hand to guide
A stubborn disciple,
Believer on own wisdom and strength
Unwilling to open arms for His grace
Waiting to save, yet let ships gone by
Drowning and blaming for no change
A confused pilgrim, let go yourself direction.
Unmissing adoration from the deepest heart & soul.
Take a strong will to follow this path
Be your days as a precious ceremony of your life
Worship by all gift retains, share with a truly cherish
A dull mind find vivid beauty in a Latin glory song
Driving fast to a dream Christmas land of the year
I am blessed for those precious moments, Easter has come !!
What changes should be in ? What should it takes?
I'll be in soon, whatever it takes ....
Happy Easter
My precious moments in St. Ignatius Loyola's church

Dinner with Speed Dating
And then, "the best" part is writing an imagine follow up from that speed-dating. Again, my problems with writing are as follow:
1. Miss spelling: partner, a bouquet, gorgeous.
2. Preposition: Not in, but "at" the JW Marriot, at my apartment, at that dinner, by one's personality
3. Subject-Verb Agreement: was/were
4. Tenses: Say instead of Said,
Anway, have a read !! Andrew mark it as a very romantic story, well done. Hmmmm...?
It was a very wonderful night. Barry came to pick me up at my apartement. When I opended the door, he was standing with a smile and holding a bouquet of roses. He looked gorgeous, gentle and cool. He gave me a slight kiss on my forehead when handing me the flowers and whispering that I looked amazing. I felt safe when he just touch my eyes. I knew that he was a noble man. "Thank you. You look great !" I told him with a smile.
Then, we walked down stairs. He held my hand gently and carefully. How I wish it was forever. Opening the car's door politely, he asked me get in as a lady. I felt like I was in heaven when he drive slowly with nice musics and sofly talked about his business. He looked mature and quite serious for me. However, he had a good sense of humour and low profile.
Everything was perfect at that night, many food and popular people come around. I spoke with one personnel of previous "KLA Project", Katon Bagaskara. Apparently, he was one of Barry's best friends. I was so amazed by Barry's personality, network and business. I felt lucky came to speed-dating and met him. We returned home, and I woke up. ...... It was a dream only, hehehe ...

My life goes along My study
There are many special moments in my life. I guess, I should write my own book as they were all so special. Times flies, I heard people say so. It was difficult for me to understand, but now I get the point. When I look back, I realize how fast my times has flown. I 've had many special moments far before I went junior high school in Buntok, my original-beloved hometown. But, let me start from that point, junior high school.
I remember that day very well, a morning in early June. I woke up far earlier than usual. It was an exciting day, I wore blue-white uniform !! This was my dream uniform. I wanted to gain more freedom like my elder sister. I wanted to go out and hang out with friends more often without much complaints from my mum. I thought she gained that since she used that uniform. Yes, I couldn't wait for my freedom to walked around with friends like my sister. On the third grade, the end of my study, I was chosen to represent my school with two others students, Bilivson and Nita, an ideology competition, called P4. I never considered my self special, smart or diligent. I had a simple world with three or four best friends. I questioned why I was chosen as there were many far more diligent, richer, and more beautiful students. To my surprise, we were the best team in Central Kalimantan. We won and went to Jakarta to represent our province. I was not a confident girl, but that competition helped me to realize my potential.
I went to continue my study in senior agricultural school of Kuala Kapuas I was still searching for freedom. It was a challenging and I was very happy. I stayed in a dormitory with many friends. We shared everything, good and bad times, happy and cheerful moments, developed strong and meaningful relationship with each other. I studied agronomy and enjoyed a lot of planting practices, -paddy, chili, tomato, fruits, etc- both in green house, laboratory and in the field. Somehow, at the end of my study, I realized that I was not patient enough to wait all my plants grew. So, I decided to change my major in university.
I studied about socio economics agricultural in Palangka Raya University. By this times, I know that I have chosen the right program. It suits my personalities and hobbies. I like meeting people better than seed and soil. I like to talk about marketing rather than production of agriculture products. I prefer to understand why certain people act differently than different growth of plants. I continue on this path, working with and for people, yet I have no significant contribution to over come any agricultural problems in my province.
I think, choosing a major is quite an important decision. It could affect our future work and life, quite significantly. I am glad that I am on the right track. Now, I am pursuing my dreams to study in Holland. I hope I can learn a lot more, and when I come back, I could be more useful for others. This year, 2009, will be a big and new path of my life.

Pasaraya Manggarai & Alfamart
Pasaraya Manggarai & Alfamart
There are two big departements store close to where I stay; Pasaraya Manggarai and Alfamart. I feel very lucky as I can easily find many things that I need in this two places. However, I think they both provide different satisfaction and facility for me.
Pasaraya Manggarai is bigger but further than Alfamart. It provides more shopping options than the latter. I used to go to Pasaraya Manggarai whenever I need to reload my monthly's supply. They sells almost complete things of what I need such as stationery, food, cosmetiques, fresh vegetables, fruits, and others. Many kinds of fast food also available, for instance KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, oriental and local food. Other facility that available is ATM Center which is very helpful to me. Whenever I need cash, I just run to this machine. All of this make me think that Pasaraya is a very good place for big shopping and to try different type of cuisines. Unfortunately, they are mostly more expensive and it is quite a distance. Sometimes, after too tired of long shopping, me and my friends take a Bajaj, a local transport, to bring us back home.
Alfamart is smaller but closer to my house. I surprice as they also provided many product that I used to bought in Pasaraya. They use AC cooling system and self-services method that makes it is also a comfortable places for shopping. To my observation, this store sells as good as like in Pasaraya for fresh fruits, vegetables, and a range of food, snack and soft drink. It is a walk distance. In fact, it is much easier as I do not have to cross a scary and busy street as if I went to Pasaraya. I find it is much comfortable and easy for me to do shopping in Alfamart.
Considering this two places, I think that I will go to Pasaraya only for big shopping and withdraw money, moreover for daily shopping I prefer go to Alfamart as it is close and safe.

Jakarta, I love you !?
I am not comfortable to see huge gap between, all most of everything; beggars and people in fancy cars and excellent mall, mighty tall building and under bridges hut, crazy expensive lunch and daily maid foods. Ohhh ...., Jakarta will be my last options to stay; I had decide so. I am sure, there will be nothing could change my mind.
Welll..., thinks changes. One months in Jakarta has bring me into different ideas and experience. Its change my mind of Jakarta. This is fun city, indeed !! Easy and cheap access to everywhere, -thanks to TransJakarta projects-, cheap food around the places, and ... of course many hang out places, -shopping mall and cinema-, and I can keep walk easily and in short time from my house to English course.
Taking English course in Jakarta has changes my opinion about this big tomato. Despite huge gap on wealthy and individualistic, there is many humanity side on this business city. I still can find friendship that cost nothing, I can share laughter and sad things at the same times. Jakarta is just like another human places to live for family and friendship.
I am not fans of this president's city, somehow, I sure that I am getting along more and more into this crowded and polluted environment. I enjoyed this city, I have to say so.
Thanks to this wonderfull opportunity to experience others side of this big bubble

Child-Labor and Sweatshop
Childhood is supposed to be a happy, playful, learning and enjoyable times for children whoever and wherever they are; boy or girl, rich or poor. However, it is not always the cases, especially for children who grow and live in poverty. We can see them in many big cities like in Jakarta, Surabaya, Semarang, Makasar, etc. They are not just in Indonesia, a developing country; but also in many others countries, developed and developing countries, like in America, Canada; and China, India, Honduras, etc.
Children who live in poverty should help their family to earn money. We can see them work on the streets as beggars, shoes-poolishers, selling newspapers or food, etc. Somehow, these kinds of work provide no certainity and low income on a daily basis. Sweatshops would be a better options for them. They provide a stable income that would be more useful to help their family for example to pay rent, buy food, or even to send their brother or sister to school.
However, as they work in a sweatshop or in the streets, those children will lose their opportunity to study and to develop both physically and mentally. Children who work in bad and dangerous environments will more likely suffer health problems especially if they should work long hours, carry or lift heavy equipment, bad air circulation, hot or dirty and dusty environment, etc. Work pressure will also contribute to their mental and characters.
If children have no opportunity to go to school, this will became an unbreakable chain of poverty. Without good education, it will be more difficult for them to change their lives and move away from poverty. I think governments should make regulations to provide education for the poor both child-labors in sweatshops and on the street. These regulations has also avoid under age or child-labor to work in sweatshops before age 15 and has graduated from junior high school. By providing free education, governments will help poor children prepare and gain better future to avoid them keep living in poverty.
Finally, considering benefit and drawback of child-labor, I will not stand to support child-labor. I rather put burden on government to pay serious attention on this problems and provide free education for them.

My Lunch Sharing
I also love to see new people on warung, they mostly come with their friends. Interesting, I never met the same person, every lunch. (Welll...., sometime I meet Rana, Alda, Harry, Icha or Ana. But I think they are not new people in it is original meaning for me?)
My others reasons is a chance to hear news or actress gossip. Television in my house is excellent big, 29 inch, but .... please, its all to watch a group of ants marching and or strings hanging all over the screen. So frustrated !! Short news on lunch is good, isn't it ?
Supricing too..., you can start chat with anybody. Today, gossip is commenting on Pasha Ungu and her wife, divorce but get along in harmony. Nice to see !! And all of suddent, someone just sit and share her life with me. She says a died-divorced is more honorable than a life-divorced. I am not sure, but she could be true.
She tell me about how she fight for her husband cancer, Kanker Limpa. I am very bad in health and tend not to heard whats doctor told when get sick. But she wake me up of how danger it was. Her husband was just late one day for the third "cemotherapy" (it must be wrong spelling...). Then, what happend is terrible. Bleed were come out of control from his nose, mouth... etc, she even fall out to saw that!! I am scary to figure it out, she should read that on my faces. But ... she keep continue her story, explain in incredible detail of that situation (lucky I done with my food).
Yeahhh.., at the end, her husband passed away 2 years ago, yet she happy that he was died in her arms. Wowww... romantic stories is everywhere. I am glad that she ended her story with optimistics. "My sons faces are like his father." she closed it. I can see hope and pride of family in her voices. I hope it will never fade away.
Yeahhh..., you can learn from anyone, even the last you expect too and in unexpected circumstances. You know, I learn something from this sharing of a working woman in Warteg.
I hope that I will have chance to take care all my beloved like she do. It was be my deepest regret to my father. I was lose that chance, a chance that will never be mine anymore, not in any days in the future. It was vanished more than 5 years ago.
My never-ending love, Papa. I am sorry !!

A letter to Helen Keller
I was write a letter to Hellen Keller and facing several gramatical problems as follow:
# Adjectives (ending with "ed" or "ing"),
# Appropriate used of verb in past tenses (did or were, give or gave, have or had),
# Articles ( a, the),
# Simplyfy sentences or used direct questions,
# And ... of course, Misspelling.
CONCLUSION: I should invest more editing time, before submitted any tasks to teachers, hehehehe ....
Well...., please enjoyed my letter to Helen Keller with 3 silly questions.
Jakarta, 22th February 2009
Dear Helen,
I am amazed with your life. You had done many things to help other people, despite your limitations. Did you know that you has been inspired many people to cope with their weakness?
You were blessed with the talent to write beautiful stories. It is such a difficult tasks for me. I always have hard times to write. I wish you could give some suggestion of how to be a good writer, how should I start it? This would be very useful for me. I would like to promote my local culture, my hometown, and improve others people's knowledge of our local life. So, I can share thought and experience with others.
Helen, you had visited to over than 39 countries? Wowwww ….., what a life you had! It must've been very challenging and exciting experience. I am going to visit Holland in August 2009. This is my first experiences traveling to abroad and visit totally new different country. Please give me advises to prepare and to avoid culture shock as it will help me adjust to my new environment.
My last questions is about your dedication to others. Why did you promote and help others while you actually needed more help too? Some people were busy with themselves and forget others, especially the poor and disabled. But you, woww..... you made fund raising to help blind people !! Would you tell me what or who motivated you to work very hard for others?
I could ask you more questions, as you had an interesting life. But, I should off now.
All the best,
Mayang
Simplifying English Spelling
So, have a look ...... , and post a comment !!
The Advantages and Disadvantages of
Simplifying English Spelling
Simplifying English spelling will help non-native speakers to learn faster and more easily. I remember how difficult it was when I started to learn English in Junior High School, about 20 years ago. I had to write three different things in the same time to understood a word; the English word, the spelling and the meaning of the word. Then, I should memorize how to write correctly, spell correctly, and also understand the meaning. This is not an easy tasks for a little child and even for most adults. Learning English spelling is also difficult since English is not our mother tongue. We are not used it for daily conversation and also do not get exposed to native speakers regularly.
It is much easier to learn and to memorize words if the writing and the spelling are the same. After more than 18 years, I still remember Latin words such us oryza sativa for paddy, or zea mays for corn, because its spelling and writing are the same. I believe that simple English spelling will help a lot of people to learn faster and better.
The disadvantages of simplifying English spelling are cost for socio change, adaptation time and reproducing new English materials. Many people all over the world, especially old people, have been accustomed to the way English words are spelt. It will be difficult for them to change or to use a new spelling of words. It will also take time to introduce and to get agreement, until it is naturally welcomed or adopted by people. To change English spelling will also take an enormous cost to reproduce or replace new English textbooks both in academic system or for general purposes. It is including to introduce those changes to English teachers and to bigger users or audiences.
However, language is a dynamic thing. The way English spelling today is different than it was a few decades or centuries ago. It will keep changing in the near future or in many decades ahead. So, I think more discussion on simplifying English spelling, more English will be simplified by nature.

Teacher makes Mistakes
Teacher makes Mistakes
Everybody makes mistakes including teachers, even though he made well preparation in advanced. Should we corrected teachers mistakes? In eastern culture, people are not used to corrected someone mistakes directly and openly. We rather choose to quite and to forget that mistakes.
Somehow, wrong is wrong. So, I think if our teacher makes mistakes we should try to inform him. It is not as easy as you think. In fact, I found it is difficult and sometime could leading to misunderstanding, even could hurt someone pride. It says, please inform in polite ways with clear reasons. The problems are "polite ways" quite vary depend on your custom. What we think polite, could consider quite rude for others people. I guess, this would be one of the reasons why people choose to be quite, avoid open argument and debate.
What would be the best way to inform our teacher mistakes? I think make questions would be the easiest way. This could be a possibility to recheck any misunderstanding, and could point out the mistakes. Mistakes are also another ways to learn and to improve our knowledge. We are learning from mistakes.

End of 3rd Weeks
This week is feel quite faster than the last? Why? I don't know ...
Somehow, I didn't manage my time well.
There are plenty unfinished from my "old" to do list.
